Most commonly asked questions about Rapid Eye Technology
Who can benefit by RET?
Anyone who desires release from stress, negative emotional experiences and
unwanted habits. Anyone can benefit who desires positive self-change and freedom
from being triggered into reacting to people and situations negatively.
Can RET be used with children?
Yes, shorter sessions of RET are successful with children of 9 years or
older.
How long is a session?
Typically, two hours.
How does RET work?
RET uses rapid blinking and systematic eye movement to simulate the REM state
that occurs during dreaming, accessing different parts of the brain where data
is stored through visual images, sounds, memories, feelings, etc. An eye
catching device called a wand is moved rapidly across the field of vision while
blinking.
The blinking and wand movement stimulates the limbic brain, the seat of
emotions and memories, along with the pituitary and pineal glands. This quickly
brings up and releases negative emotions related to the issue. Eye movement
assists the right and left hemispheres of the brain to make connections and
begin to work together to process the situation to release the stress. Although
the memory of the past event remains, the emotional negative charge associated
with it is dissipated.
Do I have to feel emotions to release a negatively charged memory?
Not necessarily. Often the charged feeling is released without actually
reliving the original event. The process moves very quickly and since most
people release past issues in layers, the feelings may not be directly
experienced.
How can I tell when I have released an issue?
When trapped stress, feelings or unpleasant memories are released, the body
may feel warm and tingly and many report an increase in energy and well-being.
Is this a long term process?
No. Most people reach their goals and go through core belief work in as few
as 6 to 12 sessions. In the first 4 sessions, an individual can expect relief
and a calming of major stresses. After 6-12 sessions, one can receive
significant insights, changes in behavior patterns and more lasting results. The
number of sessions depends upon the amount of lasting changes the individual
desires.
